The learned will long for more learning as they see that the wisdom giving them joy also delights the world. (Kural: 399)

That is from the Thirukkural. I come from the place where those words were written around 2000 years ago. It is an anthology of philosophical couplets touching every aspect of human life. I was raised near the sandy beaches and boats of Chennai in Tamilnadu.

Now I live amidst the peaks of the Alps in Munich, Bavaria. It is a place where advanced urban living meets the serene beauty of a grand village.

I am a Software Engineer by profession. I have been part of teams building software for some of the world’s largest organizations.

I have always enjoyed good stories for as long as I can remember. Every story is made of tiny details, woven into chunks of concepts and presented in a specific structure. The fundamental pieces can be mere fiction created out of imagination, such as movies and novels. Or the pieces can be non-fiction, facts distilled from reality like documentaries and essays. Or they can be a mixture of both, like most political speeches.

I have wanted to attempt telling stories since I was young, an ambition that finally resulted in this website. Here, I want to tell stories, mostly non-fiction. I call these my Records.

I am fascinated by how two people can perceive different aspects of the same object. I am not referring to an illusion where one sees a three-legged rabbit. Rather, I mean a divergence of perspective. One notes the cuteness of those legs while the other sees the sheer power of the spring within them. People look at the same reality but distill it into a curated structure. That is their signature.

I want to use this platform to share reflections from my own vantage point. My signature.

Now, I have the license to dive into the lake of thoughts, as deep as I can, to bring back something from the bottom and show it to people with beaming breath, hoping they use it or gracefully smile at it. I am a writer. A storyteller.

I am starting with writing because I believe it is the most direct, minimalist, and powerful way to communicate expansive ideas. I am also open to exploring other forms of recording life, whether through audio, visual media, or any new form the future holds.

I want to explore everything that floats with us in the universe, though my primary interests lie in history, culture, science, and technology.

Although I am an experienced software engineer with a degree in Information Technology, I am not an expert in every subject I explore. To ensure the integrity of my Records, I stand on the shoulders of experts and reference their work with care. I have always admired journalism for the rigorous ethics and research that go into the craft. A few years ago, I joined a three-month online journalism course at a university in the United States to learn this systematically. While I did not reach the formal conclusion of the program, the training was immensely valuable. It expanded my toolkit.

Writing remains a dedicated weekend pursuit, balanced alongside the other rhythms of my life. Fortunately, I write about subjects that capture my genuine curiosity, allowing my leisure and life experiences to naturally overlap with my research. I aim to publish a new Record monthly, as much as possible, with occasional Off-The-Record notes in between. Still, I will ensure a thoughtful cadence, reaching your inbox no more than once a week.

Cheers!
